Announced today was release of the OnLive App which allows users to experience console-quality gaming on their Android tablet and smartphone. The launch of the app was confirmed by an e-mail sent out by OnLive:

OnLive have you tried it, yes, no? Do you love it or have you slated it without trying it. I know those who have, and that to me is plain fan-boyscout at it’s very worst.

Me, I love it. (A few teething issues with lag but nothing to get your knickers in a twist with!) It’s the future, or a damn good portion of it, even if our good old copper wiring in the UK is not geared up for it at present, that being today or tomorrow. But with more fibre optic cable slowly making it’s way to the four corners of planet UK via BT, Virgin and Talk Talk, well in no time cloud gaming is going to be damn right epic.

So 12 months into the bold concept OnLive is getting a trickle of triple “A” status games. There’s more to come but between corporate deal making and industry protocol the community have simply got to wait, for how long, well how long is a piece of string?

In the meantime, I would like to put forth my kick start games that would give the service a serious gaming boost.

1: America’s Army 3.1.

2: PES 12 or FIFA 12. (If one chose/went with the service, the other would quickly follow suit.)

3: MW3 or BF3. (If one chose/went with the service, the other would quickly follow suit.)

4: Minecraft.

5: Portal 2.

In a recent interview with MCV magazine, OnLive founder and CEO Steve Pearlman suggested that OnLive had millions of UK subscribers. 

“The growth in the UK has been faster than when we launched in the US,” Perlman said. “It went beyond what we ever imagined. Overwhelmed is not even the word. The numbers in the UK are ten times what we projected." 

There has also been rumours that the microconsole, which allows gamers to play OnLive on their TV's, will be going on sale in GAME retail stores for this Christmas. The microconsole is currently priced at £69.99 and is only available for purchase through the official OnLive website.

OnLive have announced the brilliant new offer of a free OnLive TV Game System for every UK customer who pre-orders Assassins Creed: Revelations before the 19th of November. 

The TV Console System, which normally costs around £70, is a great way for gamers who prefer a 'traditional console' TV experience whilst using the OnLive System.

In the last week, there has been several announcements from various developers stating that they intend on bringing their titles to the OnLive platform. The range of new games vary from AAA titles such as 'Lego Harry Potter' to indy titles such as the upcoming horror game, 'The Path'.  Here are some of the games we expect to see on the platform soon!

The Witcher 
The Witcher 2 
Batman Arkham City 
Assassins Creed Revolution 

And one of the more pleasant revelations is that the classic titles 'Abe's Oddysee' and 'Abe Exodus' are due to make their way onto the platform!

OnLive Inc and the audio company SRS announced today that surround sound is now available for the OnLive service in the UK. 

Our American counterparts have been enjoying the service for a while, but it now apppears that we going to be able to enjoy our games in sweet 5.1 aswell. The leading, US-based, OnLive fansite, Onlivefans.com, reported the OnLive CEO and Founder, Steve Pearlman, saying this about the partnership: 

"Last January, we selected SRS as our surround sound partner and have since been working very closely with them to ensure that our customers in the U.S. and now the UK receive the most impressive audio experience possible from OnLive, regardless of the type of device they use or speaker systems they have connected to it.”

SRS technology is quiet clever in that your audio experience will be in enhanced even if you don't have a SRS system. This is more good news and another step forward for the OnLive system here in the UK. 

It's just been announced on the official OnLive Twitter feed that they have won 'Stuff' Innovation of the Year award! Congratulations to OnLive for this well deserved achievement! More to follow on this shortly!  

The 'Lord of the Rings: War in the North' demo is available now on Onlive, the only platform to have it. You can play the full game for free for 30 minutes, as is usual with all the demo's on OnLive, 25 days earlier than the official release date early. The clocks have just entered winter time and grown-up gamers everywhere collectively sigh with relief  - winter is finally on us! It's cold, wet and dark outside...the perfect excuse and justification for staying in doors and play some games!

To add to this good news, November welcomes some big game releases onto the OnLive platform. 

Today saw the release in the US of the highly anticipated  'Lord of the Rings: War in the North' across all platforms, including the OnLive service. The fact the game is released on OnLive at the same time as the traditional game consoles is a great sign that the service is gathering weight and is starting to be taken seriously by the big publishers. We UK fans should expect to see the game around the time of the UK release date, 25th November.

OnLive is continuing to establish itself as a major player and as a fantastic alternative to the existing gaming giants.
